The IMA's Annual Conference and Expo was held in Indianapolis, IN June 17 - 20. The conference included guest speakers from around the world speaking on relevant topics such as "The Evolving Role of Accounting Professionals in the Digital and Automation Era", "Big Data and Analytics: Redefining Our Profession", "Data Protection Programs Done Right: From Breach Response to GDPR". There were opportunities for Peer-to-Peer discussions during lunch, and networking opportunities throughout the day and in the evenings. was 1919; the place, Buffalo, NY. After two days of lengthy deliberations, a group of several dozen individuals led by Major J. Lee Nicholson, a pioneer in cost accounting, formed a new association - one that would eventually develop into what is now one of the world's most respected professional organizations for management accountants, the IMA.
At last month's Annual Conference & Expo in Indianapolis, Ind., IMA kicked off a yearlong celebration commemorating the historic anniversary of the association's founding. Leading this effort to honor IMA is a special group of individuals: the 100-year Anniversary Committee.
