was 1919; the place, Buffalo, NY. After two days of lengthy deliberations, a group of several dozen individuals led by Major J. Lee Nicholson, a pioneer in cost accounting, formed a new association - one that would eventually develop into what is now one of the world's most respected professional organizations for management accountants, the IMA.
At last month's Annual Conference & Expo in Indianapolis, Ind., IMA kicked off a yearlong celebration commemorating the historic anniversary of the association's founding. Leading this effort to honor IMA is a special group of individuals: the 100-year Anniversary Committee.
